LED Light Therapy
What is LED Light Therapy?
First developed by NASA to speed up wound healing, LED Therapy also had the unintended consequence of skin rejuvenation. So what is light emitting diode (LED) therapy? Light therapy, also known as phototherapy or low-level light therapy, is the application of specific wavelengths of light energy to tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits for a variety of conditions including skin, pain and hair restoration.
The absorbed energy is then used to improve cellular performance. Light therapy can be delivered through light emitting diode (LEDs) devices or cold LASERs, and has a variety of applications across many medical fields. This clinically validated technique is gaining greater and greater acceptance in main stream medicine by dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons as a non-invasive therapeutic modality for the treatment and healing of skin and wound conditions and by pain professionals for pain relief.
LED light therapy treatments are non-invasive, painless, require no recovery time, and can be used safely on all skin types.
Next:RED LIGHT THERAPY
This light therapy has many rejuvenation benefits by reducing sun damage (pigment, redness and discoloration) and increasing collagen production, thus softening fine lines and wrinkles. It also increases cell growth, which in turn, speeds healing. Red light therapy can also helps improve the appearance of certain types of stretch marks. Bi-weekly treatments are highly recommended.
BLUE LIGHT THERAPY
Acne or breakouts are caused by an overproduction of skin oil. The oil collects within the pore and blocks it thus causing blackheads and whiteheads to appear. There are bacteria present on the skin and within the pore which uses the oil as food and overgrows, resulting in pimples and cysts.
LED light therapy is a great standalone treatment or in conjunction with Facials, Microdermabrasion, Dermaplaning, Acne-treatment and Microcurrent for more enhanced results. Treatment is safe, painless, requires no downtime and takes 30 minutes to perform. Most clients fall asleep listening to the spa’s relaxing music.
Contraindications:
We cannot perform LED light therapy over suspicious lesions or malignant tumors, or on people who are sensitive to light, have epilepsy, are using photo-sensitizing drugs or have migraines brought on by light. Please consult your physician if you are pregnant or have a serious illness of any kind.
